A. Insurance. All boat owners must hold a
valid certificate of insurance for their boat(s), including third party
liability cover of at least £2,000,000.
However the club recognises that certain class insurance policies limit
that cover to a lesser amount, in which case the insurance must be to the
maximum the policy will permit up to £2,000,000.
B.
Safety. Members are advised that Aylesbury Sailing
Club is only able to provide safety facilities during the hours of club racing
and officially organised training periods.
Outside these hours parents and guardians have sole responsibility for
their children. Club Support Boats are
on the water during the Club’s normal sailing season with oars in the Club House. The Support Boats may be used in support of
informal sailing activity, but for safety purposes only.
C.
Personal Buoyancy. Junior members must, and other members are expected
to, wear personal buoyancy at all times when on the jetties and in boats. All sailors shall wear personal buoyancy
whenever the Race Officer decides that conditions warrant. International Code (IC) flag “Y” will be flown
when it is compulsory for buoyancy to be worn.
D.
Protective Clothing. Between November 1st and March 31st
all members sailing must wear suitable protective clothing, either a wet or a
dry suit, plus personal buoyancy.
E.
General Sailing. General sailing is allowed at all times
except during club Open meetings and the Commodore’s Cup when the lake will be
closed to all but competitors.
Non-competitors
may only sail during normal Sunday racing with the prior approval of the Race
Officer and must keep clear of boats racing.
From time to time, specific events by users of the lake may be held
which could restrict the use of the lake, and informal sailors are requested to
limit their sailing activities on these days.
F.
G.
Bounds. Landing is only allowed at the Club’s
foreshore and at the slip way on High Bank.
Because of birds nesting and fish spawning the passages in and between
the reeds are out of bounds at all times.
During the fishing season, boats are not to approach closer to High Bank
than the pole markers.
H.
Race Officer. The Race Officer is responsible for the
conduct of sailing during his period of duty.
I.
Powers of the Committee. The Committee is empowered to amend these
directions, and the Racing Instructions, as and when necessary.
Racing
