This Notice augments the full Racing Instructions which are available
from the Race Hut or the Rear Commodore
2.
Racing Programme and
Trophies.
2.1 The sailing programme for 2008 has been
sent to all members. A list of the club
trophies is displayed in the clubhouse.
2.2
To
qualify for any trophy, boats must have a valid Class Certificate.
2.3
In
the event of no qualifiers in any series the trophy will not be awarded.
2.4
The
Points Series will be split into two
fleets; the fast fleet will consist of those dinghies with a PY between 1177
and 1101 (excluding Leader & Snipe) plus Laser (PY 1078) and the slow fleet
consisting of Topper, Mirror, R.S.Feva (without gennaker and bowsprit), Laser
Pico (without race sail) and Topper Topaz Uno (without gennaker and bowsprit). The Races will be started consecutively with
the slow fleet starting 3 minutes after the fast fleet. However if there are
four or fewer slow fleet boats the race officer may start all boats together.
2.5
The
Paterson Trophy (for fast fleet novices)
and the Sherring-Lucas Trophy (for slow fleet novices) will be
run on six Sundays as shown in the Race Programme by the letter ‘N’. If sailing a 2 man boat you may be glad of
the help of an experienced sailor to crew for you. These races are open to any helm however the
trophies will be awarded to the first sailor who has not won a racing trophy in
the current or previous two seasons.
3.
Single Handed Sailing. A GP14 may not be sailed
single handed in Class races, but may be sailed single handed in the Handicap
class races and will be allocated an appropriate handicap (Club Number) by the
Sailing Secretary.
4.
Number of Boats to make a
Race. At least one boat in any race must complete
the course for points to be awarded
Personal Handicap. The Sailing Secretary will
calculate and allot Personal Handicaps from time to time on the basis of the
member’s previous performance.
Open An “Open Meeting” permits
helms from other clubs to race specified boats at
Juniors Boats
in Trophy and Series races that are helmed by a person under 18 years of age at
March 1st 2008.
Seniors Boats
in Trophy and Series races that are helmed by a person over 18 years of age at
March 1st 2008.
Masters Boats
in Trophy and Series races that are helmed by a person over 60 years of age but
less than 70 years of age at March 1st 2008.
Grand Masters Boats
in Senior Trophy and Series races that are helmed by a person over 70 years of
age at March 1st 2008.
